Warren – Phillip Koukouras, 85, peacefully passed away with his family by his side Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 19, 1932, in Lindos, Greece, the son of the late Theodore and Panagiota Koukouras.
He came to Warren in 1970. He retired from the General Motors Assembly from the bumper line after 20 years. Phillip was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, where he served many years as a Church Board Member, and was also a member of the AHEPA, Yasou Club, and the Pan Rhodian Society, and . He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Phillip fought in the Korean War for the Greek Army.
He is survived by his wife Flora Koukouras who he married January 12, 1964, two children Smaragda “Sam” (George) Callow of Warren, and Penny (Louis) Vardavas of Warren, four grandchildren Jaclyn and Dimitri Callow, and Alexis and Kristen Vardavas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Nicholas Koukouras.
Family and friends may call Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a 2:45 p.m. AHEPA Service followed by a 3:00 p.m. Trisagion Service and Monday, April 30, 2018 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A service will be Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with the Rev. Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be in Phillips name to the Pan Rhodian Society Scholarship Fund.
