Howland – Rene “Rene Baby” Marsco, 91, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 after a brief illness with stomach cancer at Mercy Health -St. Joseph Warren Hospital under the comforting care of hospice.
She was born September 28, 1926, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Americo “Henry” and Marietta “Mary” Rufo.
She was a 1945 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She had previously worked at Packard Electric, Nannicola Wholesale, and Pallante Catering in Youngstown. Rene was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. James Church) in Warren. She enjoyed baking, cooking, especially Italian delicacies, bus trips to various casinos, Italian music, polkas, and dancing. She often enjoyed a glass of her son-in-law’s homemade cabernet wine for dinner.
She is survived by her two daughters Annette (David) Marshall of Warren, and Mary Jane (Robert) O’Malley of Howland, a daughter-in-law Debbie Marsco of Cortland, five grandchildren, Christopher, Lisa Marsco, Lyndsey Marshall, Matthew and Jonathan O’Malley all of which were her pride and joy, and a sister Virginia Stefano of Warren.
She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Marsco, Sr. who passed away May 31, 2000, a son John A. Marsco, Jr, and a brother Edmund Rufo.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, (St. James Church) with Rev. Craig A. McHenry officiating.
Entombment will be at Crown Hill in Vienna.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rene’s name to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
The family would like to thank Dr. Khaterpaul and the entire nursing staff of St. Joseph Health Center in Warren for all the care and compassion they gave Rene and her family.
