I am saddened to hear of Father Smars passing. He was my first priest at St William Parish in Champion. He was so friendly and made it a point to know you and make you welcome. I was new in town and he was so nice to me. My prayers and deepest sympathy to his family. A sad loss to the priesthood. Martha Peters

I am so sorry to learn of your brother's death. I remember him as quiet and pleasant. May he enjoy life with God.

My deepest sympathy to George, Lawrence, and Ann on the death of their beloved brother John. I learned of John's death this evening from a former pupil of mine who reminded me that I had taught John in fifth grade in my first years of teaching at St. Joseph Memorial School in Hazleton, PA. I do remember John as an outstanding, dedicated, calm and serious bright student, who was polite and kind to peers as well as to me, his teacher. I remember Ann lightly, too. Be assured of my prayers that Father "Michael" now enjoys the eternal fullness of his union with Christ and that you and other survivors of family and friends take consolation in your brother's having lived his life to the full as an :"alter Christus," which I faintly recall he felt called to become in his early school days. I did not know the journey in faith you brother took until I read his obituary. Peace and prayers for al, SMP.
