Warren – Victor J. Stano Jr., 86, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 surrounded by his family at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.    

            Victor was born July 28, 1930, in Iselin, PA, the son of the late Victor and Rose Stano.

            He was 1951 graduate of Elders Ridge High School. Vic was a devout Catholic his entire life and often attended masses daily at various Churches throughout Warren. Vic worked for Ohio Edison, starting out at the Mahoningside Power Plant in 1951. He left for the U.S. Navy in 1952, serving as a machinist mate on several aircraft carriers, including the U.S.S. Cabot, U.S.S Kula Gulf and the U.S.S. Coral Sea. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1956, he returned to Ohio Edison and worked at the Niles Power Plant until his retirement in 1992.

            In 1973, Vic married the love of his life, Clara Lee Marshalek. They spent the next 35 years together until Clara Lee’s death in 2008. During those 35 years, they traveled often, making many trips to Texas and Maryland. They were always on the go. They also loved to go to Mountaineer, or as Lee would say “they went down the river”. Vic was very active in the Warren B.P.O.E Elks Lodge 295. He was Exalted Ruler from 1988-1989. Victor was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan and was often seen wearing his Steelers jersey and Pirates cap. The house was always decorated with Steeler memorabilia.

            Vic loved to attend air shows and military shows with his son Tom. On Father’s Day 2005, they flew in a World War II B-17 Flying Fortress. He was an active member of the World War II Heritage Group in Canfield. In his younger years, he was a hunter and fisherman, and in later years, he could be found on many weekends at the shooting range. He loved riding his bike, driving his jeep and enjoying working outdoors and always had a big garden.

            Also in recent years, Vic was one of the mainstays of making pierogie and nut rolls at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church.

Vic is survived by children Anthony (Kim) Marshalek, Thomas (Tracy) Marshalek both of Warren, and Elaine (Michael) Ferguson of Millsboro, Delaware, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister Verna Painter of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers John, Steve, Joseph and Frank Stano, five sisters Emilia Stano, Mary Musick, Millie Molner, Helen Maznick, and Margie Erzel.

Family and friends may call Thursday, June 22, from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

A service will be Thursday at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home with Rev. Craig McHenry officiating.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be in Vic’s name to Heart Health Foundation C/O Dare to C.A.R.E 2002 Medical Parkway Sajak Pavilion, Suite 550 Annapolis, MD 21401.
