Cortland - Callista Carol Reese, 82, of Cortland, Ohio passed away at home on December 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving and grateful family.
She was born to the late John O'Connell and Margaret (McKenna) O'Connell on December 19, 1935 in Girard, Ohio.
Callista attended school in Niles, Ohio and was a member of the class of 1954 at St. Mary's High School in Warren, Ohio. She married George Reese in 1960 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Vienna, Ohio. Callista was a member of St. Pius and St. Cyril Methodius Catholic churches in Warren. She worked for the Trumbull County Clerk of Courts and Trumbull County Juvenile Court from 1958 until she retired in 2004.
Callista's life was marked by her tremendous devotion to her family; her generosity; and her care and compassion for others, especially children. Her wonderful sense of humor and unfailing kindness made her a popular aunt, classmate, coworker, and neighbor and she built many friendships that lasted throughout her life.
Callista is survived by her husband George; son David (Jean) Reese of Vancouver, Washington; daughter Beth (Tom) Beebe of Cortland, Ohio; and her grandchildren Colin, Bradley, Cameron (Macarena), and Nichole.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Nancy; and her brothers Jack, Pat, and Bill.
Family and friends may pay their respects Monday, December 10, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. Cyril & Methodius Church) 185 Laird Ave. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 with Rev. Thomas J. McCarthy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akron Children's Hospital Specialty Care, 500 East Market St #29, Warren, Ohio 44484.
