Bristolville – Gary L. Joy 73, passed away June 2, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 18, 1945, in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Wilbur and Marietta Joy.
He was a 1963 graduate of Leavittsburg High School. He retired as the custodian at John F. Kennedy High School after eight years. He previously did concrete work for several area companies. He was a member of the Bristolville Church of Brethren, and the Cortland Moose Lodge#1012. He was a classic Car buff and enjoyed going to Geneva-on-lake and enjoying time with his family and friends.
He is survived by Barbara Ford his spouse for the last 25 years, one daughter Michelle Cavender of Lordstown, Barbs son Virgil (Shelly) Ford of Cortland, three grandchildren Brittany (Jon) Roden, Kurstie Elser and his special granddaughter Carlie Ford, two great grandchildren Calvin and Maliya, a brother Jim Joy of Warren, three sisters Judy (Charles) James of Cortland, Phyllis Dietelbach of Leavittsburg and Kay (Bill)Anderson of Leavittsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Bill Dietelbach.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Keener officiating.
In honor of Gary all classic car buffs who knew Gary are asked to bring their classic cars to be in the procession to Sager Cemetery.
Burial will be in Sager Cemetery in Bristolville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be in Gary’s name to Bristolville Church of Brethren.
