Howland – John H. Ayres Sr., 83, of Howland, passed away peacefully Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic.
John will always be remembered for living his life to the fullest and giving a helping hand to whomever needed it.
He was born November 6, 1935 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Hershel and Grace (Pennington) Ayres.
John was a 1954 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and was employed for over 42 years at General Motors being a skilled trade pipe fitter.
He had many passions throughout his life. John loved everything about racing. He especially loved drag racing at the Howland Drag Strip and had participated in Motor Cross Hair Scrambles and Poker Runs. John also enjoyed going to Casino’s and watching horse racing.
His wife the former Vicki Thomas whom he married November of 1990 passed away September 27, 2001.
John leaves behind his son John H. Jr. (Kescha) Ayres of Howland, two grandsons Tyler and Shane Ayres both of Howland and two step children Barbara (Thomas) Grahm of Butler, PA, and Edward (Dawn) Wojciechowski of Poland.
Besides his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a son Chris Ayres and a sister Caroline Aldrich.
Per John’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.
Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. Warren.
