Laura T. Charnas

Howland – Laura T. Charnas, 85, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

            She was born April 23, 1933, in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Omer and Laura Benoit.

            She was 1953 graduate from Memorial Hospital as a Register Nurse, a 1956 graduate from St. Louis University with a Bachelors in Nursing, and Bachelors from Kent State in Education. Laura worked at Trumbull Memorial hospital in the OBGYN Department for two years then she worked raising her children for the next 61 years. She was also the Owner and Operator of 1^st Real Video Store in Cortland for three years. Laura was of the Catholic Faith. She enjoyed swimming, biking and growing flowers.

            She is survived by her husband Dr. Gust Charnas DDS, five children Virginia “Ginny” (Rosco) Knight of Houston, TX, Ellen (John) Cort of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Christ (Leanne) Charnas of Johnstown, OH, John (Becca) Charnas of Gainesville, FL, and Phillip (Kara) Charnas of San Jose, CA, eight grandchildren and a brother Robert (Sherry) Benoit of FL.

            Family and friends may call Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday, October 1, 2018 from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

            A service will be Monday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish (St. Joseph Church) with Rev. Christopher Henyk officiating.

            Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
