Lemonia P. Giourgalis

Warren – Lemonia P. Giourgalis, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

            She was born May 10, 1924, in Chios, Greece a daughter of Markos and Anna Lagos.

            She was a longtime member of St. Demetrios Church where she had been a member of Chios Society. Lemonia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family and cherished all of her time spent with them.  She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed making many special dishes for her family and friends that will always be remembered.

            She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children Kalliope “Kelly” Raptis and her husband Nick, Perry Giourgalis and his wife Peggy, and Helen Flamino all of Warren; seven grandchildren Elias (Vicki) Raptis, John (Cathy) Raptis, Antigoni (Nick) Nimorakiotakis, Lemonia “Lana” (Dr. George) Malliaras, John Giourgalis, John (Alexandra) Flamino, and Marco Flamino; seven great-grandchildren Maria, Kalliope, George, Nikos, Aris, Nicholas, Spiro; and by her brother John Lagos and his wife Eftihia of New York.

            She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-years John P. Giourgalis whom she married on September 24, 1942 and passed away on September 14, 2002; her brothers Mihalis, Kostas, Vasilios, and Modestos Lagos; and by her sisters Paraskevi Vouvoudakis and Maria Nikolopoulos.

            Family and friends may call Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 PM with a 4:30 p.m. Trisagion Service, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

            A Funeral Service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.

            Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Fr. Loginos Kakavros, Helen Efstathiadis Delores Provitt, Deborah Blandon for their care and compassion that they showed to our mom in her time of need.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made Lemonia’s name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 429 High St. Warren, Ohio 44481.
