Warren – Leo Michael Scarnecchia, 91, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1927, in Benwood, West Virginia, the son of the late Anthony and Anna (Benjamino) Scarnecchia.
He was a graduate of Union High School in Benwood, West Virginia, he served in U.S. army during WWII, and a 1955 graduate of West Virginia University. He came to Warren in 1955 and retired from Drexel Park Pharmacy where he was a pharmacist for 42 years. He was a member of St. John Paul II Parish (St. Pius X Church) in Warren, a fifty-year member of YMCA, a charter member of the Warren Olympic Club, West Virginia University Alumni Association, and the Ohio State and Trumbull County Pharmaceutical Association. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and swimming.
He is survived by his wife Mary Catherine Scarnecchia whom he married May 31, 1969, three children, Ann Marie (Scott) Karabin of Howland, Mary Beth (Matt) Donner of Chicago, and Michelle (Ryan) Emery of Gahanna, Ohio, and three grandchildren Mackenzie Karabin, Eleanor Donner, and Carolyn Emery.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Edward and Reynold Scarnecchia.
Family and friends may pay their respects Friday, August 24, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish (St. Joseph Church) 420 North Street NW, Warren, Ohio 44483 with Rev. Christopher Henyk officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Leo’s name to St. John Paul II Parish 1401 Moncrest Dr. NW, Warren, Ohio 44485.
