Mary Lou Leopardi

Howland – Mary Lou Leopardi, 86, passed away, at her home, on Thursday, January 11, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.

            She was born, October 30, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Judge James A. and Elizabeth (Nagy) Ravella.

            Mary Lou was a 1950 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, and attended Seton Hill College, majoring in primary education. She also worked as a clerk for the Warren Municipal Court, where she met her husband, Atty John A. Leopardi. They were married on August 16, 1958 and shared 47 years of marriage before his passing on December 29, 2005.

            Mary Lou set aside her career to devote her life to her family.  She cherished and embraced every moment; especially time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She enjoyed planting flowers, socializing, cooking, and sharing a meal with all.  She was always so kind and caring and brought a smile to whomever she met.

            She will be deeply missed by her children:  James A. Leopardi of Hudson, Mary

(Alfred) Rossi II of Warren, and Atty. Patty (Duane) Knepp of Warren; six grandchildren, James (Amy) Leopardi, John Leopardi, Alfred (Liz) Rossi III, Nicole (Justin) Alexander, Orion Knepp, and Aarika (Brian) Sheehan; and four great grandchildren Elliott Rossi, Pierce Rossi, America Sheehan and Maverik Sheehan – with whom she shares her birthday.

            Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Sandy Leopardi.

            She was a member of Blessed Sacrament and St. Mary’s Church and was of the Catholic Faith.

            A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 16 at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church, 232 Seneca St, Warren, Ohio 44481, where family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the noon service with the Reverend Thomas Eisweirth officiating.

            Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.

            In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary Lou’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5000 East Market Street, Warren, Ohio 44484, St. Mary’s Building Fund or Blessed Sacrament Church 3020 Reeves Rd. NE, Warren Ohio 44483.
