Mary Pawcio Obituary

Champion - Mary Kathryn (Szczurek) Pawcio 70, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018.

Mary was born June 24th, 1948 in Southington, Ohio to Joseph and Beulah (Baughman) Szczurek.

Mary was a 1966 graduate of Chalker High School.  She attained her first of many cosmetology licenses in 1967 and over time became proprietress of Bilmar Designers, a hair and skincare specialist salon in Warren for 50 years.  Her beauty included strength and self-reliance and it showed in the various activities she enjoyed.  She was an avid gardener of herbs, vegetables and wine grapes.  She learned ballroom dance, hiked the Appalachian Trail, scuba dived and traveled the United States.  As a Black Belt in Kenpo karate she taught and mentored many students in martial arts.  She was very active with the Vienna Fish and Game Club and enjoyed shooting and teaching others how to handle and shoot guns.  She loved her Indian Scout motorcycle and was part of the Indian Motorcycle Riders Group of Youngstown, Ohio #1945.  She volunteered at the National Packard Museum in Warren, Ohio and regularly fostered cats with a local cat rescue.   Over the years she sponsored many Slow-pitch, Baseball, Bowling, and Horseshoe teams throughout the community as well as many area high school activities.  Mary was compassionate, steadfast and she continues to serve by being an organ donor. May she rest in peace.

Mary is survived by her mother Beulah (Boots) of Southington; her husband of 19 years Mark Pawcio, of Champion; her in-laws Mary Ann and Ted Pawcio; her stepchildren Jake (Amanda)  and Jeremy Pawcio,  of Champion; her grandchildren Dillon, Meriah, JJ and Blake; her siblings Michael (Carol), Rick and David (Lenett) Szczurek of Southington, Patty (Bud) Szczurek-Manos of Newton Falls and Elizabeth (Randel) Szczurek-Raub of Waseca, MN; her nieces and nephews, Christine Cho, Michael Szczurek Jr., John Patrick Bourne, Christopher Haught, Aaron Szczurek, Matthew Szczurek, Kathryn Inman, Terra Szczurek, John Paul Szczurek, Danielle Kotopka -Stokes, Paul Kotopka, Indira Raub and Ryley Raub.

Mary is preceded in death by her father Joseph F. Szczurek and her sister Judith A. Szczurek-Bourne.
