Howland - Nick M. Zerefos, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Howland Township on March 15 after a short illness. Nick was a life-long resident of the Warren area. Nick is preceded in death by his parents Markos and Maria Zerefos of Warren, Ohio, by his wife Janet (Hanley) Zerefos, and by his dear friend Tish Easly of Chagrin Falls.
Nick graduated from Warren Harding High School and, after getting married and serving in the US Army, graduated from Youngstown State University in 1965. He spent his entire working career in inventory and quality management at the US Gypsum facility in Warren, retiring after the death of his wife. Nick was active for years with Junior Achievement and with the Boy Scouts, enjoying many camping trips and other events. He enjoyed gardening throughout his life, both flowers and the large vegetable garden he and Tish cultivated. He loved sharing a meal and a glass of wine, and treasured his friendships, both new and life-long.
He is survived by his children Irene (Dan) Petery of Parma, Ohio, Mark (Janet Wolforth) Zerefos of Detroit, and Jim (Rebecca Duray) Zerefos of Centennial, Colorado, and by Tish’s children, Carl (Julie) Easly of California, Sarah (John) Woodall of Vienna, and Mark Easly of Chagrin Falls. He also leaves his grandchildren Brian (Rhonda) Winslow; Luke (Brenda) Zerefos, and Kate Zerefos, and his great-grandchild Isabella Zerefos. He is survived by his brother Steve Zerefos of Leavittsburg and his sister Mary Kontos of Florida, and is preceded in death by his brother George Zerefos of Leavittsburg.

Family and friends may call from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, with a 5:00 p.m. Trisagion Service, and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios’s Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
