Rita J. Dusza

Niles - Mrs. Rita J. Dusza, 92, passed away Thursday March 14, 2019.

 She was born to Nicholas and Loretta Rose of Niles.

Rita was a 1944 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a 1948 graduate of the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing as part of the Government Cadet Corps of Nursing. She worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where she met the love of her life, Bernie. They married in 1950 and moved to Chicago where she worked at Cook County Hospital while her husband attended dental school at Loyola University.

After moving back to Warren, they started their family.

Rita was an extraordinary mother and grandmother and a wonderful wife. She was well known for her delicious meals and baked goods and fed anyone and everyone who came into her home. Many family and friends spent happy hours in the backyard pool and at the farm. Rita was active in a variety of charitable organizations, including the St. Joseph Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and while serving as President published a beloved cookbook. She also served in the Corydon Palmer Dental Society Women’s Auxiliary. She was a member of Trumbull Town Hall, the Chip and Putt golf league, the Warren Women’s Church golf league and the Dig and Delve garden club. She loved to travel, especially when travel involved visiting her family. She was an active member of St. Joseph Church.

                Surviving children include Mark Dusza of Boulder, CO; Lisa Indra of Warren; Amy (Jim) Lott of Birmingham AL; David (Allyson) Dusza of Delaware, OH; and Chris (Tina) Dusza of Phoenix, AZ.  There are seven grandchildren: Julia and James Lott; Sarah, Nicholas, and Katherine Dusza; and Olivia and Mallory Dusza.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Paul, and husband Dr. Bernard T. Dusza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church at 10:30 am on Monday April 1. Family will receive callers at 9:30 am at the church.

 Entombment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
