Obituary

Albert J. "Al" Hreno, 72, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center.

Al was born April 1, 1939, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, the son of John and Helen Novak Hreno.

He served in the U.S. Navy. Al retired from Martin Chevrolet in 1988.

Al was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Penn Ohio Polka Pals. His love for music was a great part of his life. He had a well-known polka orchestra for many years.

Al leaves his wife, Margery A. Kerul Hreno, whom he married Feb. 17, 1962. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He also leaves a son, Michael A. Hreno of Warren; a daughter, Karen L. Hreno Brown of Warren; two sisters, Mary Helen Matincheck of Youngstown and Dorothy Dellimuti of Warren; and two grandchildren, Logan Hreno Brown and Megan Kerul Brown.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by a brother, John Hreno.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sinchak and Sons Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. James P. Walker officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Howland Community Scholarship Foundation, to the attention of the Al Hreno Music Scholarship Fund, 8200 South St., Warren, OH 44484.
