Howland - Allan M. "the Mayor of Bittersweet" Hamamey, 78, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his residence with his wife and Max by his side. He was born June 8, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Emile and Helen Hamamey. He came to Howland in 1980. Allan retired in 1995 from Federal Aviation Administration as an Accident Investigator out of the Chicago Regional Office after 35 years. He had served on the Howland Zoning Board of Appeals. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, flying, air shows, and was licensed pilot, visiting and talking to his neighbors, and was known for his Christmas displays and was a season ticket holder for years for the Scrapers. Allan had worked as an air Traffic Controller at Cleveland Hopkins Air Port in 1960's and 1970's and was in charge of the Cleveland National Air show in 1970's and 1980 he was in charge of the Youngstown air Show. Allan served in U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife Georgiana "Jackie" Hamamey who he married September 16, 1961, a daughter Michelle (Randy) Gooding of Howland and his dog "Max". He is preceded in death by his parents, an aunt and Uncle Bill & Isabelle Pilot who raised him. Family and friends may call Friday from 5:00 to 7;00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE Warren, Ohio 44483. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Eiswierth officiating.
