CORTLAND - Anne H. Hiryok, 97, of Cortland, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center.

Anne was born Dec. 4, 1913, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena Williams Hancin.

Anne retired from Packard Electric Co. and was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. She enjoyed making arts and crafts and making pirohy at the church.

Anne's husband, John Hiryok, whom she married May 23, 1935, passed away Dec. 31, 1980.

Anne leaves a daughter, Barbara (Larry) Ruiter of Cortland, with whom she made her home; two brothers, Edward Hancin of Warren, and George Hancin of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Janine Hiryok, Daniel Hiryok, P.J. Ruiter, Jessica Hart and Daryl Ruiter; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Anne was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Hiryok and Brother John Carl, SJ; two brothers, Joseph and John Hancin; two sisters, Martha Miller and Sr. Maria Hancin, VSC; and a grandson, Eric Ruiter.
