Barbara C. Jaros, 66, of Howland Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:05 a.m. at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.
Mrs. Jaros was born on March 30, 1951 in Warren the daughter of the late Andrew M. and Josephine Smuke Kassan and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1969 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and retired in 2012 from the Accounts Payable Department at RG Steel after 43 years of dedicated service.
Barbara was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-St. James Catholic Church in Warren. She was a member of the Slovenian Ladies and the SNPJ Lodge 321. Barb enjoyed walking and reading; was an avid Cleveland sports fan; cheered on YSU, Ohio State and Notre Dame sports and enjoyed Senior Bus trips. She always looked forward with her husband in celebrating their anniversary at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Barbara will be missed by her husband of 40 years Raymond J. Jaros whom she married on October 16, 1976; her brother Jim (Donna Abbott) Kassan of Lexington, Michigan; sister-in-law Marie (Jim) Hanuscin of Howland; nieces Kristin (Jason) Puhlman and Bethany (Nicholas) Worner; nephew Brian Jones; grandnephews Cullen and Keaton Puhlman and was godmother to five.
Besides her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Kassan.
Private calling hours will take place.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. John Lody officiating, will be offered on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-St. James Catholic Church. (Everyone is to please meet at church) Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Barb's name to either Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514 or to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Heritage Fund 2532 Burton St. SE, Warren, Ohio 44484.
