Cortland - Brittany L. Szwedko, passed away Tuesday afternoon March 1, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Youngstown, OH following injuries she sustained from a traffic accident. She was born June 28, 1988, in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of John "Jack" and Mary Kay (Reihley) Szwedko. She was a 2006 graduate of Lakeview High School and was a 2009 alumna of Youngstown State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. During her time at YSU she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Brittany enjoyed distance running and had competed in the Pittsburgh Marathon. For the last nine years she had been working for the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library and was currently in the public relations department. She was a member of St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland and especially loved walking her dogs Ted and Penny. Brittany is survived by her mother Mary Kay ( fiancAC. Dan Lanese), her brother Nicholas Szwedko; sister Jayna Szwedko all of Cortland; her paternal grandmother Mary Jane Szwedko of Sharpsburg, PA; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Jack, paternal grandfather Joseph B. Szwedko, and maternal grandparents Lawrence and Mary Jane Reihley. Family and friends may call Friday evening March 4, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday morning at St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland with Rev. Carl G. Kish officiating. The family would like to thank everyone in the Emergency Department and SICU at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center for their outstanding care and compassion that they showed to Brittany and her family.
