Obituary

Warren- Carmella DiGiacomo entered peacefully into eternal rest at 6:15pm on Sunday, February 7th at St. Joseph's Health Center. Carmella was born March 9, 1938 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Irene (Szabo) and Samuel J. Arbie, formerly of McDonald. She was a 1956 graduate of McDonald High School and graduated from YSU earning her degree as an Elementary School teacher. She taught school for 30 years in the Howland and Matthews School Districts. Her passion for learning, encouraging and teaching her students was evident. During her retirement years, she enjoyed looking them up and calling their families to see how they were doing. If you were one of her many students, feel blessed to have had such a wonderful teacher. She was irreplaceable. She had a brilliant mind and memory. If there was something we did not know, she did and could explain it so well. She was the news, dictionary and encyclopedia all rolled into one... a book of knowledge closed for now. Her greatest gift was given to her as a child when she converted to the Catholic Faith. Without her faith, she never could have endured her crosses in life and her sufferings in death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel (1987) and Irene (2012), her husband Mario DiGiacomo (2002), and grandson Luke Angelo Cesta (2011) She will be deeply missed by her loving children, Maria (David) Cesta of Champion and Mario DiGiacomo of Fowler, her six grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Alexander, Maximus, Anastasia, and Gabriel. Her siblings Patricia (Ron) Ondo, Attorney Phillip S. Arbie, Nancy (Merritt) Hughes, and Judith Szabo (Henry) Lepore. Many special thanks and gratitude to Heather Smallsreed who was a positive support and mediator in our time of great need. As well as all those who took care of our mother. Out of respect and in accordance with our mother's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
