Carol Stone, 73, of Howland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 31, 2026, surrounded by the loving family who meant the world to her.
Carol was born on December 11, 1952, in Auburn, New York, the daughter of the late William and Joan (Burns) Morgan. After graduating in 1970 from Mount Carmel Catholic High School, Carol married the love of her life, Charles James “Chuck” Stone, in 1974. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, adventure, and countless memories. During Chuck’s military career, the couple traveled to various places before eventually settling in Warren, Ohio, in the 1980s, where they made their home and raised their family.
Although Carol worked a variety of jobs throughout the years, including ten years as a lunch monitor at Howland Glen School, her greatest and most cherished vocation was being a mother and grandmother. She treasured every opportunity to care for her children and took tremendous pride in their accomplishments. Her family was her greatest joy, and she devoted her life to making sure they knew they were loved.
Carol found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed knitting, playing gin, gambling, watching soap operas, shopping at the mall with her sister, and traveling to the beach. While cooking was never her favorite chore, she lovingly prepared meals for her family because caring for them was what mattered most. She was especially famous for her homemade bread and Christmas cookies—treats that became part of the treasured memories her family will carry with them.
At the end of the day, Carol was happiest simply kicking back with a Pepsi, surrounded by her family. And, of course, there was always room for dessert. Those ordinary moments—laughing together, sharing stories, enjoying one another’s company—are the moments her loved ones will remember most.
Carol’s greatest gift was the love she gave so freely. She had a way of making family the center of everything, and her presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to those around her. Her life was a testament to the beauty of devotion, and the love she poured into her family will continue through the generations.
Carol will always be remembered and deeply missed by her devoted husband of 52 years, Charles James “Chuck” Stone of Howland; her sons, Charles Joshua (Cheyenne) Stone of Youngstown and Bradley William (Tabitha) Stone of Howland; her beloved and only grandson, Bryan Edward Stone; her sisters, Kathleen Morgan, Joanne (Terrence) Rice, and Ellen (Timothy) Wilson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her three brothers, William, Richard, and David Morgan.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Carol on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 10am to 12noon at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.
A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 12 noon.
Burial will take place in Howland Township Cemetery.
