Warren - Christ J. Zervas, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital from complications due to kidney failure. Christ was born October 18, 1931 in Warren, Ohio the son of the late James C. and Vasiliki Zervas. He lived in Warren his entire life. He attended Warren City Public Schools and was a 1949 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He attended Wayne University in Detroit, MI. and transferred to Kent State University and received a degree in accounting, graduating in 1953. Upon graduating from Kent State University he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving two years on active duty during the Korean War and subsequently served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves for eleven years attaining the rank of Captain. Upon discharge from active duty in the U.S. Marines Corps he was employed by Packard Electric Division of General Motors in the financing areas. He retired as the payroll manager of the Northern Ohio Regional Compensation Center in Warren, Ohio. He retired in September of 1992 after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church serving as president of the Greek Community in 1977, member of the Order of AHEPA serving as president in 1958 and 1959. He was a member of the Carroll F. Clapp Masonic Lodge, 32 Degree of the AC Koran Shrine and a member of the Elks Lodge 295 and the Trumbull Shrine Club. Chist enjoyed crossword puzzles, and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Melba Zervas whom he married May 9, 1959, two sons James C. Zervas of Warren and Steve C. (Angela) Zervas of Cortland, two grandchildren Christopher, and Melena Zervas, and two sisters Jennie Hazapis of Macedonia, OH and Connie Caralis of Sterling Hts. MI. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Triantafillou. Family and friends may call Friday, May 23, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. AHEPA Service and a 6:30 p.m. Trisagion Service and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Burial will be Oakwood Cemetery in Warren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Christ's name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 429 High St. NE Warren, Ohio 44481 or to the Children's Rehabilitation Center, 885 Howland Wilson Rd.
