Howland - Christine O. Archon, 94, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Christine was born August 25, 1919 in Zaborst, Slovenia the daughter of the late Rudolph and Karolina Opalk. She came from her native country in June of 1940 to Girard, Ohio. Christine worked at the Ohio Leather Company in Girard and later at Republic Steel Company cafeteria in Warren. She then worked as a harness assembler at Packard Electric and worked there for a total of 36 years retiring in 1982. Christine was a member of the Windham Bible Church located in Windham, Ohio. She enjoyed crocheting Afghans, baking potica and spending time with her family members. She is survived by her two sons William A. Archon of Howland whom she made her home with and Michael D. (Wanda) Archon of Yulee, Florida, one granddaughter Kristin L. Archon of Jacksonville, FL. Two great grandchildren Alixandria and Quentin Roth of Jacksonville, FL, and a brother Albert (Ethel) Opalk of Santa Clarita, CA. Christine married William M. Archon on December 23, 1944 in Girard. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1985. Besides her husband, Christine was preceded in death by her stepmother Jennie Opalk, a sister Karolina Opalk and two brothers Joseph and Rudy Opalk. Christine will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Family and friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial in Warren. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Youngen officiating. Entombment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
