Warren - Connie C. Slanina, 89, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born September 7, 1924 in Niles, Ohio the daughter of Tindaro and Rosaria Casamento. Connie was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She moved to Warren in 1950 and retired as a cook in 1989 from Trumbull Memorial Hospital after 15 years. Connie was member of St. Mary's Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking and participating in activities at Church. She is survived by her two children Greg (Linda) Slanina of Novi, MI, and Denise (Pete) Wheeler of Rocky River, OH, three grandchildren Michon (Ross) Hudman, and Elliot and Grace Wheeler and two sisters Lena DeLuca of Nevada and Jeanette Oliver of Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband August "Augie" Slanina whom she married September 9, 1950 and passed away December 27, 2001, and a sister Carmella Hedrich. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on March 22, 2014, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church 301 High St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. A Private Service will be held this Saturday. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. Memorial contributions may be made in Connie's name to St. Mary's Church 301 High St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44481.
