Howland - David S. Deemer, 73, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Hospice House under the care of Hospice of the Valley following a courageous 2 A½ year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 29, 1943 in Warren, Ohio the son of the late Glenn and Erva Deemer. David was a 1961 graduate of Bristol High School. After graduating from Heidelberg College in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree, David earned a Master of Education degree from Westminster College in 1970. He was employed as a teacher and coach by the Champion Board of Education for 35 years. David and his wife Carol were married in 1978 and cherished each other and each moment for 38 years. He was a member of the Cortland Christian Church. David enjoyed large holiday family gatherings, fly-fishing, camping, traveling, and ice cream. He is survived by and will be missed by wife Carol Deemer; son, Brian (Donna Jean) Deemer of Farmdale; daughter Dawn Deemer of Columbus, daughter-in-law Kiersten Deemer of Howland; five grandchildren, Christian (Megan) Deemer of Cortland, Hope (Dustin) Burton of Farmdale, Brayden Deemer, Jackson Deemer and Garrett Deemer of Howland, a great-granddaughter Libby Deemer of Cortland, two sisters Shirley Barbe DiVencenzo and Donna (Wesley) Campbell and a sister-in-law Shirley Deemer. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John Christopher Deemer, a brother Glenn Deemer and a sister Arlene Pascarella. Family and friends may call Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cortland Christian Church, 153 Grove St. Cortland, Ohio 44410. A Service will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Church with Rev. Donald P. Barnes officiating.
