Debra "Debi" Kane

WARREN - Debi Kane, 75, passed away peacefully on September 4 at 7:00 p.m. after a long and courageous battle with serious health challenges.

Debi was born in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Warren, Ohio. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, where she was a proud Panther. She went on to become a nurse and worked at Community Hospital and the old St. Joe's.

After becoming a mother, Debi devoted herself to raising Daniel as a full-time mother. Following the birth of her second child, Kevin, she entered public service by running for and winning a seat on the Howland School Board. She served two terms and became president of the board.

Jim and Debi took the family often on fun vacations. Kevin and Daniel are awesome children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William 'John' ,and Dorothy 'Helen ' Leonard Bush, and her sister's, Sharon Smokovich and Karen Capito.

Debi was a devoted Christian whose faith in God was central to her life. She believed wholeheartedly in Jesus Christ and prayed every day for her family, friends, and countless others. She was known for her caring heart, her service to her community, and her deep love for the people around her.

Debi and Jim had known each other for 69 years. Their friendship grew into love, and they were married in January of 1972. They shared 54 years of marriage, building a life together, raising a family, and facing both joyful and difficult times side by side.

In January of 2020, Debi contracted COVID-19 and later developed several physical problems. About three years later, she contracted COVID again, resulting in additional long-term health challenges. Despite these difficulties, she fought hard to remain active and independent for as long as possible.

In the final months of her life, Debi faced two serious bacterial infections. She continued to fight, with Jim by her side.

Debi's life was defined not by the illnesses she faced, but by the people she loved, the family she raised, the community she served, the prayers she offered, and the faith she carried throughout her life.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim; their family; and the many friends and loved ones whose lives she touched.

Jim has said that he was the luckiest man alive, a tribute to the 69 years he shared with Debi and the 54 years they spent as husband and wife.

Debi will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, friend, nurse, community servant, and woman of faith. Her memory will live on in the stories her family tells, the people she prayed for, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends may call Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 from 11 am to 12 pm, followed by a memorial service at 12 pm, all at Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE Warren, OH 44483.

May Debi rest peacefully in the hands of the God she trusted, and may her family and friends find comfort in the love and memories she leaves behind.
