Cortland - Dennis J. Demsey passed away peacefully at his home with his family under the care of MVI Hospice on May 28, 2016 after a long battle with a debilitating stroke. His body was tired and God finally took him home. He was born July 13, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late John & Stella (Gunia) Demsey. A graduate of North High in Youngstown and New Castle School of Trades where he earned his journeyman electrician certification. Dennis was employed as an electrician with General Electric Youngstown Lamp and Ohio Lamp, Warren for 20 years. St. Joseph Riverside Hospital and then to General Motors, Lordstown until his stroke in 2002. He was a long time member of the Polish National Catholic Church where he held many parish offices. He sang with the Polish Bard where he met his wife. In his younger days he enjoyed and belonged to a golf and bowling League. He was a member of the Cortland Lions Club and the Ashtabula Antique Engine Club. He was a collector of Hit and Miss engines and John Deere Tractors. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Ciesielski) Demsey of 42 A½ years, his son Brian (Traci), Eric (Abigail), five grandchildren, Madyson, Ella, Luke, Norah, and River, a sister Judith (Walter) Zyvith, a brother-in-law Timothy (Debbie) Ciesielski, nephews and nieces. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his inlaws Edward and Josephine Ciesielski, two brother in laws John Neyman and James Ciesielski. Memorial calling hours will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 noon at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 A Memorial service will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Cortland Lions Club, or a charity of your choice in Dennis' name. The family wishes to thank MVI Hospice, our family and friends for their, prayers, help, and support thru this trying time.
