Warren - Despina Vardavas, 86, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Autumn Hills in Niles. She was born November 8, 1929, in Pilona, Greece the daughter of the late Vasilis and Maria Efstathiu. She came to Warren in 1948 from Greece, Despina was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren and Pa-Rhodian Society. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by her children Dino Vardavas of Poland, Bill (Susan) Vardavas of Warren, Christos (Kim) Vardavas of Jupiter, FL, and Steve (Nicole) Vardavas of Canton, OH, thirteen grandchildren Brett, John, Zack, Angelo, Marissa, Callie, Christopher, Pete, Katerina, Nick, Nicholas, Madison and Leah Vardavas, and a sister Penny Maggiassos of Howland. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vartholomeos Vardavas who she married June 24, 1956 and passed away March 20, 2012. Family and friends may call Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. Trisagion Service and Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE Warren, Ohio. A service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
