Cortland – Dewayne H. Wells, 69, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at his residence.
He was born August 29, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Harold Wells and Marie Ballas.
He was a graduate of Woodland High School in Indiana. He came to Warren in 1970 from Woodburn, IN. He retired in 2003 from GM Fab Plant in Lordstown as a fork lift driver after 33 years. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He was Board President for the Trumbull Mobile Meals and was a member of the Howland American Legions Post #700, the Cortland Masonic Lodge 529, Morning Light Lodge #80, and the Trinity Lodge #42. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and his grandchildren.
He served our country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Corry in Viet Nam.
He is survived by his wife Deborah L. Wells, three children Dorothy (Scott) Sabatini, Penny (Robert) Bennett, and Glenn Wells, three grandchildren Allison and Emily Bennett, and Tristen Sabatini, two brothers Tim (Mary) Wells of Layfette, IN, and Jon (Joan) Wells of Southington, and a sister Lori (James) Becker of Lake Milton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew Samuel Brutz.
Family and friends may call Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE Warren, Ohio 44483.
A service will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor David Luther.
Burial will be in Howland Twp. Cemetery with a Military Service.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Trumbull Mobile Meals 323 E. Market St. Warren, Ohio 44481 or to the American Legions Post 700, PO Box 8735, 8273 High St. Warren, Ohio 44484.
