Dorothy J. Byers, 77, of Howland, passed away at 6:39 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 in the Coronary Care Unit at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born on January 27, 1936 in Warren the daughter of the late Steve and Mary E. (Mozak) Gaydosh.
Dorothy was a faithful and active member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, where she served as church and school secretary for 30 years. She was a member of the St. Benedict Auxiliary, Ladies Guild, Benedictine Oblates and Altar and Rosary Society.
Dorothy was married at Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church on August 27, 1955 to Wiley Byers and together they shared 57 years of marriage and the love of twelve children: Patrick (Janet) Byers of Stewartstown, PA, Stephanie (Craig) McKnight of Deerfield, OH, Christine (Ray) Raub of Lexington, NC, Dianna (John) Koza III of Vienna, Mary Beth Byers of Howland, Timothy ( Annamarie) Byers of Norwalk, OH, Angela (Rich) Conway of Girard, Victor Byers (deceased), Christopher Byers of Niles, Lynn Britton (deceased), Stephen (Nikki) Byers of Hubbard and Robert (Jennifer) Byers of Gulfport, Mississippi; twenty four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother Theodore P. Gaydosh Sr.
Calling hours will take place on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sinchak and Sons Funeral Home where a Parastas Service will take place at 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Liturgy with the Very Rev. Andrew Deskevich officiating will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to leaving for church.
Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Lordstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's name to Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 180 Belvedere Ave NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 or to the Bella Women's Center, 1192 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483
