Edward E. Mittelstadt, 65, of Warren, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles.
Edward was born on February 19, 1948 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of the late Edward G. and Goldie M. Green Mittelstadt.
A 2001 retiree of WCI Steel Company, Ed was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Army Navy Post #283 in Warren, where he served as post commander for 4 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, doing yard work and gardening. Ed's real enjoyment was being involved with his grandchildren's activities and he had a joy for animals.
Ed is survived by his wife of 13 years the former LouAnn Hansel whom he married on August 7, 1999; his mother-in-law, whom he enjoyed helping out, LaVerne Hansel of Niles; seven children, Kenneth Kempski of Cleveland, Melissa Mittelstadt of Warren, Mary Baumgardner of Conneaut, Ohio, Dawn Mittelstadt-Rigg of Michigan, Michael Lawrence of Liberty, Candace Lawrence of Niles and Adrian Barbutes of Niles; a brother Walter Mittelstadt of Hadley, PA; three sisters Sandra Hammons of Greenville, PA, Bonnie Nieswonger of Hermitage and Edna "Penny" Waldo of Greenville; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters-in-laws Linda (Ray) Walters, Laura Portale and Loretta Lepo and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother Robert Mittlestadt and two sisters Eleanor "Marie" Billic and Doris Waldo.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.
A Military Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home conducted the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Ed's name to the Disabled American Veterans.
