Eleanor Ann Ruggieri

WARREN - Eleanor Ann Ruggieri, 97, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at Gillette Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. 

Born on October 22, 1928, in Warren, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosa Maria (DeBeardinis) Talanca Sr. 

A proud graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Eleanor’s career was both varied and meaningful. While she worked at several places, she is fondly remembered for her many years as a candy maker at Kozy Korner Candies. Above all her professional roles, Eleanor cherished her identity as a homemaker, dedicating herself tirelessly to nurturing and supporting her family.

Eleanor’s warmth extended beyond her home through her cherished hobbies and interests. She treasured the camaraderie of her “Golden Girls” lunch club and gatherings with cousins at Card Club. Even into her nineties, she engaged in spirited games of bocce. Her love of entertainment was evident in her fondness for the Hallmark Channel, Lawrence Welk, and the TCM channel, as well as her delight in dancing and musicals, all of which brought sparkle to her days.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra “Deb” (Ellen) Ruggieri of Mansfield; her son, Joseph “Joe” (Barbara) Ruggieri Jr. of Warren; grandchildren Matthew and Katie Ruggieri and Josie (Adrian) Burns; great-granddaughter Robin Eleanor; sister-in-law, Lucy Talanca of Warren, and a special cousin, Louise Pribb of Warren, who all remember her with great affection.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Joseph “Joe” Ruggieri Sr., whom she married on September 3, 1951, and who passed away on March 19, 2016. She also preceded her brothers Anthony, Marino, Patsy, Rocky, Dominic Sr., John, and Frank Talanca, as well as her sisters Carmella Kitakis, Elizabeth Talanca, Concetta Mitchell, Violet Theodore, Lena Valentine, Theresa Schmoyer, and Rachel Bugnone.

Family and friends are invited to honor her memory with a visitation at Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, located at 1884 North Rd NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. where prayers will follow at 10:15 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish – St. Mary Church, 301 High Street Northeast, Warren, Ohio 44481.

Eleanor’s family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, material tributes be directed to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
