North Bloomfield - Ella H. Kalas, 91, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at her home.

She was born on May 23, 1932, the 6th of 11 children born to Matthew J. Kalas and Elizabeth Gresock Kalas.

Ella graduated from Greene High School in 1950. She began her career working at Ohio Lamp for many years. In 1973, she made a career change and began working at Packard Electric Division of General Motors. She continued her career at Packard Electric, retiring in 1997.

Ella was a strong and independent woman who loved polka dancing, polka music, traveling, and enjoying meals at local restaurants. She was always willing to help family and played a big role in the lives of all her nieces and nephews.

Ella is survived by her siblings: George Kalas (Orwell, Ohio), AnnaMae Tabak (Austintown, Ohio), Matthew Kalas (Rosemary), Ronald Kalas, of North Bloomfield, Ohio, and Betsy Lesko (Kinsman, Ohio). She is also survived by her loving companion, James Zimmer and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Arthur Kalas, Joseph Kalas, Mickey Kalas; sisters: Virginia Lenyo and Marydell Ragalyi.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Ella Wednesday (today), February 14, 2024 from 6 to 8pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE. Additional calling hours will be Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 10:30am to 11am.

A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home on Thursday at 11am with Rev. Kevin Marks presiding.

Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery
