Eugene "Gene"
Pintar
October 12, 1930 – May 22, 2018
Warren -Eugene "Gene" Pintar passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at age 87.
He was a graduate of Farrell Sr. High School ('48) where his father Anthony Pintar (deceased) was principal. He grew up in Farrell, PA with his Dad, Mom (Ethel Spory Pintar, deceased) and brother Larry. Gene was a DJ at WPIC for several years.
Gene served in the Army with the battalion that guards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and later served in Germany as a voice of AFN radio. After his discharge, he attended Northwestern University where he graduated in 3 years with a degree in communications. He then joined Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation and rose through the ranks in the sales division at LTV Steel, and ultimately became the head of sales for WCI Steel in Warren, Ohio. He volunteered for Goodwill and read for the blind weekly.
He was an extraordinary man who adored his wife Jane Allen Pintar, who survives him, and they were a team in every sense for 62 years. He taught his two daughters, Julie Pintar and Susie (Pintar) Miley hard work, humility, and kindness. He is also survived by his immediate family, his brother Larry Pintar (Barbara) and grandchildren Erin and Rachel Miley.
Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours and instead there will be a celebration of his life (date to follow).
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Animal Charity of Ohio (www.animalcharityofohio.org) or the American Heart Association.
