WARREN - Frances H. Palen, 62, of Warren, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at her residence after a short battle with cancer.

Frances was born Oct. 23, 1948, in Frackville, Pa., the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Kessock Strizack.

She was a 1966 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

Frances worked at Giant Eagle as a cook the past two years and also had worked at other food-related stores.

She enjoyed reading, caring for her beloved dogs and spending time with her family.

Frances' former husband, David R. Palen Sr., is deceased.

She leaves a daughter, Michelle C. Groff of Champion; a son, David R. (MaryFlo) Palen of Salem; a brother, Joseph Strizack of Florida; two sisters, Maryann (Sam) Cafaro of Warren and Annamae (Sam) Vanderhoeven of Garrettsville; and three grandchildren, Abbey, Olivia and Madelyn.

Frances was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Strizack.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sinchak and Sons Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family and friends are welcome to visit with the family at their residence, 5113 Pierce Road N.W. in Warren, following the service at the funeral home.
