Warren - Francis V. Abraham, 85, prominent in business in Warren for a half century, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren, Ohio on Sunday, December 7th. He had been ill for a long time, having recovered from a hip fracture in late January. Born on March 1, 1929, the son of Nihom and Synura (Awad) Abraham. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Mary's High School, a 1954 graduate of John Carroll University, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951-1953. The retired businessman owned and operated Abraham's of Warren clothing store. Active in the family business from a very young age, he took over the store in 1959 at the age of 30 upon the death of his older brother and mentor, Alfred J. Abraham. His father, Nihom J. Abraham, founded Abraham's of Warren in 1914. The business would thrive in downtown Warren for the next eight decades, thanks in large part to a very loyal patronage. Mr. Abraham was a man of high integrity and was held in high respect, not only by business associates but also the public at large. He won the Downtown Improvement Award in 1965 for renovations he made to the building at 152 North Park Avenue in downtown Warren, the location of Abraham's of Warren from 1966 to 1997. He was also a member of the Downtown Business Association. His favorite pastime was watching sporting events and news programs on tv with his son and best friend, A.J. Abraham. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Jo Abraham, and his son, Alfred J. (A.J.) Abraham of Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alfred, Elmer and Edward Abraham, and four sisters, Edna Abraham, Julia Kaliel, Victoria Arrieh and Elizabeth Ferris. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Warren at 10 AM with Fr. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material contributions take the form of donations to St. Mary's Catholic Church 232 Seneca St. NE, Warren Ohio 44481 and Lake Vista of Cortland 303 N.
