Howland - George J. Arnas, 86, beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather passed away July 20, 2013, at his home in Howland. George will be dearly missed by all. He was born December 9, 1927, in Kattavia, Rhodes, Greece, the son of John George and Poulkeria (Tsalakoury) Arnas. At the age of 18 he moved to the United States and lived in Weirton, West Virginia for 10 years where he worked at Nick's Bakery. George graduated from Duff's Business College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He then was employed by Freuhauf Trailer Company where he served as office manager in Pittsburgh and Girard, Ohio for over 40 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. George was a devoted member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, where he enjoyed the company of many friends. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, two daughters Rita (Joe) Arnas Cwikla of Tallmadge and Jo-Anne (Kenneth) Hipkins of Parma, four grandchildren Alexis, Nicholas, Casandra and Alexandra and his brother Apostolo Romano Arnas of Milan, Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents John George and Poulkeria (Tsalakoury) Arnas and two brothers Alex and Anastasis. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. Trisagion Service and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Burial will be in Howland Township Cemetery, Howland,Ohio.
