Columbus - Harold V. Kistler, 97, passed away peacefully Monday, February 16, 2015 at National Church Residences in Gahanna surrounded by his family and caring staff. He was born December 31, 1917 Warren, Ohio the son of the late William and Sylvia Kistler. Harold retired in 1980 from Cox Lithographic as a Lithographer after 32 years. He had previously worked at Falls Printing. Then he moved to New Albany in 2005 from Warren after the passing of his loving wife of sixty years Mary S. Kistler. Harold was a very Faith Filled man who could quote psalms from the Bible by memory. He attended Methodist, Catholic and Presbyterian Church Services as well as Lutheran while a resident of Shepherd of the Valley in Howland from 1999 to 2005. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Browns and the Ohio State Football, playing cards, traveling, bowling, golfing and mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his family. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW-II in the Pacific Theater aboard the LST204, earning a Bronze Star and WW-II Victory Medal. He is survived by his children James (Bruna) Kistler of Howland, Mary Sue (Daniel) Boothe of New Albany and Harold "Corby" (Virginia) Kistler of Roseville, MN, six grandchildren Christopher (Ann) Kistler, Lisa (Eric) Rapp, Angela (Tyler) Abrams, Amy (Greg) Johnson, Carrie and Evan Kistler, eight great grandchildren Ashley, Samantha, Alex, Alyssa, Audrey, Emma, Lauren and Brennan, a sister Arline (Ben) Pugh of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and a sister-in-law Mary Kistler of Las Vegas, NV. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Bud Wolfe, his wife Mary Kistler, a son Robert Kistler, two brothers Lester and Vernon Kistler and a sister Ethel Montgomery. Family and friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Lokhorst officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta with full military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may made in Harold's name to the Warren Family Mission P.O.
