WARREN - Helen A. Underwood, 96, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.

Helen was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Warren, the daughter of Edward and Ethel Verbosky Cvengros. She had worked at Ohio Lamp Co. many years ago.

Helen enjoyed crocheting, sewing, flowers, cooking and baking, roller skating and going to Mountaineer Resort. She also attended all the activities at Over the Rainbow Adult Day Care and Shepherd of the Valley.

Helen's husband, George D. Underwood, whom she married May 30, 1941, passed away March 27, 1983.

Helen leaves a son, Charles E. Underwood of Warren; a brother, Ernie Cvengros of Warren; two grandsons, Charles J. and Michael P. Underwood; a great-granddaughter, Indiana Underwood; and a dear friend, Barb Switzer, whom Helen considered part of her family.

Helen's small family grew to be a very large family with her many friendships at Over the Rainbow Adult Day Care and Shepherd of the Valley who she thought of us family.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by six brothers, William, Edward, Andrew, Robert, Elmer and Louis Cvengros; and two sisters, Wilma and Emma.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
