CORTLAND - J. Douglas Roman, 69, of Cortland, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center.

Douglas was born June 11, 1942, in Warren, the son of John and Elizabeth Lucas Roman.

He was retired, and had been a self-employed concessionaire and operated various concessions at local festivals. Douglas also formerly owned Douglas Amusements and had worked for the Tribune Chronicle as a photographer.

He was a member of the Italian-American Festival Committee.

Douglas was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

He leaves a sister, Yvonne (William) Brown of Cortland; a niece, Renee (David) Stevens of Warren; a nephew, Mark (Kathy) Brown of Warren; three great-nieces, Erika, Emily and Rebecca; a great-nephew, Alan; and many cousins.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
