Bernard Jr.
March 5, 1925 – January 31, 2017
Warren--On Tuesday, January 31, James F. Bernard, Jr. passed away at Hospice
House in Poland.
Jim was 91 years of age, born March 5, 1925 to the late James F. Sr. and Rose
Bernard of Niles. After graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1944, Jim
went into the music business with his parents for a number of years before
founding, owning and operating Bernard TV and Appliance "On the Strip" for more
than the ensuing 30 years.
Before retiring in circa 1988, Jim served on the Board of Directors of Niles
Security Dollar Bank; and, shortly after retirement, became associated with
Zamarelli Real Estate as a realtor. Jim was foremost, and throughout, an avid
fisherman, whether at Mosquito Lake, in the Atlantic Ocean or off Florida's
Costal Waters.
Jim is survived and missed by three daughters--Rosanne (Atty. Michael) Rossi,
Kathi Bernard and Nancy (Michael) Hripko, all of Warren; four grandchildren--Amy
Rossi (Stephen Bartlett), Atty. John (Nicole) Rossi, Benjamin Rossi and Abby
(Craig) Bartlett; and seven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, and his son, Jay Bernard.
A private service was held for Jim at St. Mary's Church on Friday, with
entombment at Pineview Cemetery in Warren. The family requests that any
memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St.,
Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
Arrangements were made by the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren.
