Obituary

Champion - James C. "Jimmy" Hoolihan, 85, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Washington Square Nursing Home. He was born October 18, 1928 in Warren, Ohio the son of the late James J. and Mary Hoolihan. Jim was 1947 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an agent after 24 years. Jim was a charter member of St. William Church in Champion. Jim was also a member of the Stephen Foster Chapter of Barber Shoppers for 40 years and also known in the area for being an "Irish Tenor". He enjoyed golfing and was anvid Notre Dame Fan. Jim served in the Korean Conflict - 169th Regiment Army Infantry. He is survived his wife Mary Ellen Hoolihan who he married January 24, 1953, two sons James A. (Susan) Hoolihan and Michael (Mary Ann) Hoolihan of Cortland, six grandchildren Matthew, Andrew, Kathleen, Patrick and Mackenzie Hoolihan and Allison (Jonathan) Hays, two great grandchildren Paisley and James, sister Jane (Thomas) Dorff of Warren, a brother-in-law Nicholas Paul of Niles and a sister-in-law Janice Hoolihan of Warren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother David R. Hoolihan and two sisters Mary Kathryn Barton and Barbara Paul. Family and friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church in Champion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church in Champion with Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jim's name to St. William Church 5400 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, Ohio 44483. Arrangements are being handled by the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
