Jean DaBelko, 86, of Salem and formerly of Warren, entered into eternal life, Friday, March 11, 2016 at 9:27 a.m. in the comfort of her home.
Jean was born on July 21, 1929 in Hickman County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William E. and Willie E. (Hensley) Roden.
Jean was a graduate of St. Thomas School of Nursing Vanderbilt University. Upon completion of nursing school, Jean started her nursing career at St. Joseph Riverside Hospital in Warren. Jean nursed in various jobs during her career and retired from Spacelabs in Seattle, Oregon working with Apollo Astronauts.
Jean was a former member of St. Pius X Church in Warren and was currently a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem. She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and reading for her bookclub.
Jean is survived by her husband of 64 years, John "Tom" DaBelko, whom she married on February 7, 1951; two children Wayne (Marie) DaBelko of Cortland and Patricia Kump of Pittsburgh; a sister Sue (Pete) Bennett; two twin brothers Ted Roden and Ned Roden; and two grandsons Tom and Greg Kump of Pittsburgh.
Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two sons Robert and Gregory DaBelko; a brother Adrian Roden and three sisters, Georgia Devore, Marie Reed and June McBee.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, 727 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Bernard R. Schmalzried officiating, will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in St. Mary's Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.
Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
