Howland - Joanne Marie Holko, 77, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland with her husband by her side. She was born January 13, 1937 in Reading, PA, the daughter of the late Domenic and Antoinette Crupi. Joanne was a 1954 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School and received an associate degree in Business in 1983 from Youngstown State University. She came to Warren in 1957 and retired in 1998 from the Lake Milton Post Office where she served as Postmaster for 11 years. Joanne had also served as Postmaster in Fowler. Prior to her 22 years with the Post Office, she was a secretary for Bazetta Elementary School and also a co-founder of their family-owned business, Holko Enercon, with her husband, George. Joanne was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the National Association of Post Masters. She enjoyed reading, motorcycles, traveling at home and abroad, and riding roller coasters with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband George R. Holko, Sr. whom she married May 23, 1956, two sons: George R. (Debra) Holko, Jr. of Cortland and Vincent P. (Joyce) Holko of Cortland, two daughters: Deborah L. Swindler of Girard and Rosalie J. Cicconi of Austintown, seven grandchildren: Gregory and Andrew Swindler, Andrea, Stephanie and Miranda Holko, and Elaina and Natalie Holko, four great grandchildren, a sister Leteria "Lee" (Edwin) Diefendorf of Farmington, IL and a special niece, Joanne (Joe) Bellitto of Girard. She is preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Rodney A. Van Meter, Jr. and two brothers, Vincent and Eugene Crupi. A private service was held. The family wishes to thank Shephard of the Valley for their kindness, compassion and dedication in the care of Joanne. The family asks that contributions be made in Joanne's name to Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. Arrangements are being handled by the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
