John W. Armstrong III, of Champion, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2014 in his home.

John was born on May 14, 1947 in Warren the only son of the late John W. and Wanita (Saltzmann) Armstrong Jr. and was a 1965 graduate of Champion High School.

John retired after 34 years from Delphi where he was a tool and die journeyman. He was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army serving during Vietnam.

John was married on July 10, 1971 to the former Barbara J. Navarra and together they shared the love of three children Babette (John) Sisler of Champion, John W. (Sonia) Armstrong IV of Seattle and Danielle (Matthew) Woodyard of Warren; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are John's three sisters Rowena (William) Moffit of Leesburg, FL, Ramona (Keith) Hurd of Bazetta and Danita (Kenneth) Davis of Warren.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church with Fr. Bernard R. Schmalzried officiating, followed by full military honors provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard at the church.

Private interment will take place in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
