Howland - John W. "Buff" Thompson, Jr., 69, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his residence. John was born August 18, 1943 in Warren, Ohio the son of John W. and Velma Thompson, Sr.. He retired from American Welding in Niles as a Labor after 30 years. John enjoyed fishing and hunting. John served in the U.S. Marines during the missile crisis in Cuba and Vietnam. He is survived by three brothers Bill (Wilma) Thompson of Lorraine, Ohio, George Thompson and Larry Thompson both of Warren and two sisters Betty Hartle of Ocean Island, NC and Debby (Victor) Rossi of Champion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Minister Terry Siverd officiating. Burial will be in Pine Knoll Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
