Obituary

Warren - John A. Caniglia, 88, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Hospice House in Poland. John was born January 4, 1926 in Ravenna, Ohio the son of Liborio and Carmela Caniglia. He came to Warren in 1950 from Ravenna. John was a skilled carpenter for W.B. Gibson Company and Anthony Marchese Construction. John retired in 1989 from Van Huffel Tube Corporation after 17 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. James Church), the Carpenter Local # 171, St. Vincent de Paul of the Church, Howland Scope and the Bell Choir at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. John took pride in everything he did, as was evident in all his beautiful wood-working. In the spring and summer, you could always find John working in his vegetable and flower gardens, which were the envy of his neighborhood. John enjoyed bocce, working on jig-saw puzzles, playing cards, working, and watching golf tournaments on TV. He was avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Spending time with his family was the greatest joy for John, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his four children Mary Jo (Allen) Braden, Sr. Jo Anne Caniglia, OP, Susan Ellen (James) DiNucci, and John A. (Korinne) Caniglia, Jr., eight grandchildren Lisa Braden and her twin Lori (Kenneth) Van Horn, Kelly(Mark) Himes, Jill DiNucci, Olivia(Kabir) Moss, Claire DiNucci, Michael and Patrick Caniglia, and one great grandchild Bryce Van Horn. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Celeste Caniglia who he married July 29, 1950 and passed away November 21, 2013, a brother John Caniglia and a sister Josephine Caniglia. Family and friends may call Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. James Church) in Warren, with Rev. James P. Walker officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery Cortland, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 185 Laird Ave. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. The family would like to thank the staff of the 3rd Med-Surg floor at St. Joseph Health Center, and also to the staff 2nd floor Assisted Living at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland for the great care given to John.
