Howland - John R. "Jack" Shaw M.D., 72, formerly of Riverside, CA. passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Just Like Home. Jack was born December 18, 1940 in San Francisco, CA. the son of John and Mildred Shaw. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Medical School, and a BS in Bio Ripon College. Jack retired in December of 2011 from his family practice in Riverside CA. after 43 years. He was a member of Riverside County Medical Association, California Medical Association, American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Shaw was a Humanitarian who truly loved people. He was known to say, Smile through the tears, and remember the good times. One day the tears will go away, and the smiles will remain. The love and hope he gave to so many will live on. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He is survived by his wife Andrea Shaw whom he married February 14, 1989, four children John R. Shaw II of Boulder, CO., Andrew Hayden Shaw of Los Angeles, CA, Adam (Melissa) Shaw of Riverside, CA and Sarah (Robert) Martin of Wheeling, W. VA., four grandchildren Jack, Ellie, Emma and Opal, and a half brother Gary (Charlotte) Eckert of St. Louis, MO.. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Ray Eckert. Family and friends may call Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Service will be Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Fr. Jeff Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of your choice.
