Florida - John David King Jr., 90, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 David passed away peacefully with his devoted wife Georgette, by his side at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami, Florida. He was born April 23, 1923 in Bluefield, W. VA. the son of John David and Virginia King, Sr.. J. David graduated from the US Naval Academy and served in the Pacific Theater in WW II on the minesweeper USS McCook. In 1961 he became one of the first bridge professionals, maintaining the top 100 master point list for many years while competing in bridge throughout the world. He amassed 12,668 master points as Platinum LifeMaster and was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in 1971. As well as embracing the Greek culture he was witty, charming, fun-loving, and respected by all. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Georgette King, a son James (Patty) King, a daughter Carol (Steve) Bray, two grandchildren Jamie (Mike) Parsons and Jonathon (Kelly) King, three great grandchildren Emma, Jake and Grant, sister-in-law Christina (Nick) Kapolis, brother-in-law Guste (Kate) Kantakis, two nieces Rita (Adamantios) Antonas, Kalia Kantakis, two nephew Thano (Anthie) Kapolis, Adam Kantakis and seven grand nieces and nephews Alexandra, Constantine, Niko, Kiki, Tina, Niko and Elia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother. Family and friends may call Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. A service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren, Ohio.
