Howland – John R. Newill, 67, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from an extended illness at University Hospital Ahuja Medical Center.

He was born October 1, 1949, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of the late Edward and Jean Newill.

John was a graduate of Pendleton High School and obtained Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Mexico. He came to the Warren area in 1986. He retired in 2014 from GE Ohio Lamp as a staff engineer and computer specialist after 43 years. He enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife Linda Newill of Howland, three children Robert E. (Krista) Newill of Streetsboro, Andrew (Amanda) Newill of Wilder, Idaho, and Kathryn Z. Newill of Warren, a grandson Zakary Newill, and a sister Anne "Zilpha" (Terry Lynn Isaacs) Newill-Wood of Indianapolis, IN.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends may call Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with Rev. Thomas Eisweirth officiating.

Burial will be in Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton, Indiana at later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to Angels for Animals 4750 West South Range Rd. Canfield Ohio 44406 or to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County 812 Youngstown Kingsville Rd. SE, Vienna, Ohio 44473.
